East Asian Popular Culture and Scholarly Publishing
This presentation will introduce the East Asian Journal of Popular Culture (EAJPC). It is the first academic peer- reviewed journal for scholars, teachers, and students from around the world who have an active and passionate interest in the Popular Culture of East Asia. The journal is devoted to all aspects of Popular Culture in East Asia and encourages articles that are both locally-focused (dealing with a specific popular culture trend, figure or industry) and more global or thematic in their outlook (e.g. dealing with links between EastAsian popular culture and wider global issues). Three topics will be discussed that are at the same time criteria related to the issue of ‘ranking’ international journals: 1. Discerning trends in scholarly publishing 2. Keeping a balance between the themes juxta-posed to their regional diversity; 3. International focus. Illustrations from the journal will be provided. Special attention will be paid to Taiwan-related papers.
