Politics in Japan is undergoing a major transformation. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Abe Shinzo the ruling Liberal Democratic Party has, since 2012, embarked upon an ambitious program of policy reforms as well as changes to Japan’s governing structures and processes. Based on the work that he has done revising his textbook on Japanese politics, Ian Neary will introduce some of the main aspects of what he sees as Abe’s reform agenda.
Prof. Ian Neary is the former head of the Nissan Centre for Japanese Studies, Oxford University, and an expert on contemporary Japanese politics and civil society.
